Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks and spending time with family over a nice dinner. Write about your most unforgettable meal.

Prompt: An unforgettable meal that I have had was breakfast at my friend's house after a sleepover. We both had a bowl of protein cereal with a protein shake as the milk. The meal itself was not that special but we ate it on a cold morning in his backyard. It felt so peaceful outside and I can remember it almost perfectly. Summary: Today we did a quiz on "The Life You Save May Be Your Own" Reflection: I think I did good on the quiz.

Write about a time when you realized you needed to look out for yourself in a silly or harmless situation—maybe dodging a pop quiz, escaping a group chat argument, or remembering at the last second to submit an assignment. How did choosing wisely make your life easier?

Prompt: Last night I forgot about a couple assignments I had to complete until later in the night. I already had a decent amount of homework, but these extra assignments made it take a lot longer for me to finish my homework. I didn't end up going to sleep until a little after midnight. The entire thing is my fault because I should have started my work earlier. Summary: Today we continued reading "The Life You Save May Be Your Own". Reflection: It is important to acknowledge the whole questions on Writable. You must read each thing that the question is asking you to do.

Describe a time that you had an encounter with a homeless person, either directly or indirectly. What did you think and how did it make you feel?

Prompt Response:  A few months ago me, Michael, and another friend were waiting to get a ride home outside underground Atlanta. While we waited we had multiple interactions with homeless people. One in particular stood out because we told him we didn't have money, yet he started praising our character. This was strange because I had never met this man, and I don't think I did anything to make him think highly of me. Summary: Today we started reading "The Life You Save May Be Your Own" by Flannery O'Connor. Reflection:  Today I learned what a tramp was.

Write about what you are thankful for.

Prompt: I am thankful for all my friends and family. Having people to talk to and people to spend your time with is such a blessing. I seriously relate to many of the people that I know and I am so glad to know them. Summary: Today we did vocabulary. Reflection: I learned some new words today.

The last scene forces readers to reinterpret Emily’s entire life. Write about a moment when new information changed your perception of a person or situation. How did that “plot twist” reshape your understanding, the same way Faulkner’s ending reshapes the story?

Prompt Response:  I am not going into go into detail about what it was, but my friend at the gym confronted me about somebody I knew that had stolen something from him. He described the person as tall and blonde. I instantly came to a conclusion about who it was and stuck with it for about a week. A week later, a closer friend of mine walks into the gym who matches the same description and I came to a grim realization. I confronted my close friend about this and he admitted to stealing the item. Summary: Today we did a quiz on "A Rose for Emily" Reflection:  The quiz made me realize I need to work on eliminating answer choices.

In “A Rose for Emily,” Miss Emily’s actions shock the reader—she kills her fiancé and keeps his body in her home for years. People often react with disbelief when they hear about real-life stories that seem just as unbelievable. Write about the most shocking or “craziest” news story you have ever heard. What happened, and why did it stand out to you? How did people react to it, and what does it reveal about human behavior?

The most shocking news story I have ever heard was the story about a man eating another man's face. The suspect was high on bath salts. I do not know his motivations but the effects of the drug likely caused the incident. Summary: Today we finished "A Rose for Emily" and started a characterization worksheet. Reflection: I really enjoyed this story.

Prompt: Miss Emily’s house once represented pride and tradition, but over time it became a symbol of decay and isolation. Describe a place that holds deep memories for you—positive or negative—and explain how it reflects part of who you are or how you’ve changed over time.

My grandparents' house holds deep meaning to me. I have a lot of positive memories from there. It represents part of me because I really value my family. Usually on holidays like Thanksgiving we spend them at my grandparents, which has had a large impact on my life. Summary: Today we started "A rose to Emily" Reflection: I think that Emily has a dark secret.

Prompt: Think about the vocabulary words from Lesson Two. Write about a time you saw or heard one of these words outside of the classroom — maybe in a movie, song, social media post, or book. Describe how it was used and whether the context helped you understand the word better.

Prompt: I cannot remember exactly where but I have heard the word brigand in lots of media centered around the 1700s. Most of these were either pirate related or about colonial America. I can assume that the word brigand was likely more prominent around this time period. Summary: Today we worked on vocabulary. Reflection: I learned some new words today.

Thinking about "The Rockpile," what is something your parents forbade you from doing when you were growing up? Explain what it was and why they might have set that rule.

Prompt Response:  My mom forbade me from drinking coffee until I was in middle school. He believed that caffeine stunted growth. I do not believe that caffeine directly stunts growth. I think people believe this because caffeine keeps you awake and can cause worse quality sleep, which can lead to stunted growth.  Summary: Today we read "The Rockpile". Reflection:  I think that everybody has their own "rockpile".

Words shape how we think, write, and interpret literature. Think about a time when learning a new word or understanding a specific term helped you better analyze a text, express an idea, or make your writing stronger.

Prompt Response:  Times where I had to learn a new word or term helped me become more proficient in other readings and a better writer. It allows me to understand other texts and understand more complex figurative language or deeper meanings. I have also became a better writer because I have more to work with when it comes to expressing myself. Summary: Today we did an assignment on our new vocabulary words Reflection:  I learned new words to use in my writing.

Thinking about “The Rockpile,” which parent or guardian in your life has been the strictest when it comes to discipline? Explain how their approach to discipline has influenced you or shaped your behavior.

Prompt Response:  My dad has always been the strictest when it came to discipline when I was younger. My dad did not take any disrespect. This applies not only to him, but if I were to do something to my sister, I would also get punished. His discipline has shaped me into a more respectful person Summary: Today we continued to explore the rock pile. Reflection:  I think discipline really shapes how somebody becomes when they grow up.

Reflect on a time when you paused to appreciate the beauty of nature, much like the speaker in “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.” Where were you, what did you notice, and how did that moment of stillness make you feel or change your perspective?

Prompt Response:  When I went to the mountains over fall break, I looked up into the sky and saw many stars. This was a beautiful sight because they were much clearer than back in the city. Since there was no light pollution, you could see about everything. This made me feel happy to experience life, and I felt like I could stare at it for hours. Summary: Today, we worked on our one pagers. Reflection:  Today I analyzed my poem.
