After two weeks of studying rhetorical devices, types of rhetoric, and methods for identifying rhetorical techniques, which rhetorical device do you find most effective or compelling, and why?

Prompt: I think that using a hypophora is very effective. I notice that they are used in many effective arguments or speeches that I have heard. It is also a rhetorical device that is easy to pull off. Overall, I think that it just really strengthens an argument. Summary: Today we will take an assessment on the rhetorical devices we have been learning. Reflection: I hope to do good on my assessment.

Choose a vocabulary word that resonates with you personally. Write a blog post explaining why this word is significant to you, including any personal memories or experiences that link you to the word.

Prompt: The word malinger resonates with me. I never knew that there was an entire word for skipping work or school by pretending to be sick. It is a useful word that is not really heard of. My room also has a lot of the stuff that I enjoy such as my computer, books, and bed. Overall, I like having my own time to focus on myself. Summary: Today we covered more rhetorical devices. Reflection: These devices will help me create an argument.

Reflect on a time when you had to rely on someone else. How did it feel?

I have had to rely on others in group projects numerous times. Very often when I do a group project we split up the work. When the work is split up you have to rely on others to do their part. It does not always feel great because some people cannot be trusted to do their part, and it is frustrating when they do not. Summary: Today we learned more rhetorical devices. Reflection: I can use what I learned to create arguments.

You cannot be successful in a work environment if you are not responsible. It is a necessity in the real world. Summary: Today we did a rhetorical analysis for a Donald Trump speech. Reflection: I learned crisis rhetoric.
